Band Camp starts Monday!

Dear CHS Marching Band Students and Parents,

Summer band camp is just about here! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and enjoyed your time indoors in the cool AC, but its time once again to brave the brutal August heat and humidity and learn our marching band show.

The rehearsal schedule for the 2018 Summer Band Camp is as follows:
Monday, August 20 – Friday, August 24: 9AM – 4PM
Monday, August 27 – Thursday, August 30: 6PM-9PM
Friday, August 31: Practice from 2:30PM-4:15PM, football game ends at 9PM.

Students should wear cool, comfortable clothes and bring the following materials to band camp, every day:

  • Instrument and pencil
  • Music, flip folder, and dot book
  • new students will receive the flip folder the first day of camp if they didn’t get one at forms and fees night
  • dot books can be a simple small spiral-bound lined notepad, or a fancier one that can be found from several online vendors
  • A bag lunch
  • A water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Sneakers (NO FLIP-FLOPS, SANDALS, BOOTS, VANS, SPERRYS, CROCS)

Students will be wearing similar-colored shirts each day during the first week of band camp:

  • Monday – 2018 blue official band shirt (will receive the first day if not picked up at forms and fees night)
  • Tuesday – white
  • Wednesday – navy/dark blue
  • Thursday – black
  • Friday – 2018 official band shirt

The second week will feature spirit nights, to be determined.

It is important that students come to band camp each day FED and HYDRATED.  Any student needing an epi-pen or inhaler should bring it EVERY DAY. We don’t want any ambulance rides.

If you did not pick up music on forms and fees night, please email Mr. Orifici.

If you have any questions, please contact me at charles_a_orifici@mcpsmd.org.  Otherwise, see you on Monday!

Sincerely,

Mr. Orifici

Citrus Fruit Orders Arriving Friday

The fruit from the OOMPAH Citrus Fundraiser is expected to arrive Friday, November 17, 2017. Students who have orders, both online and turned in, are responsible to pick up the fruit. The orders should be picked up from 4-8pm and delivered to the customers. They can be picked up from the side of the school facing the staff parking lot – between the auditorium entrance and the band room doors. If you cannot pick up your order on Friday, please contact Mr. Orifici at Charles_A_Orifici@mcpsmd.org or Katherine Niederhelman at KNiederhelman@verizon.net.
